- I will work in small group practicing using the shelf marker to check out books. Students will be given a slip of paper with a call number. I will help them find that particular one and pull it off shelf correctly.
(Day Two) Meet in MC
- Start with Tina's World Game (where students decide if a story is real or make believe) http://www.earobics.com/gamegoo/games/tina/tina.html
- Discuss with students that real=nonfiction, make believe= fiction section
- Read an actual book and have students decide if it can from fiction or nonfiction section.
First Grade:
- Use foldable to have students list for details and take notes. Middle is for a picture for them to draw of the main idea.
- If time permits, pass out graphic organizer of person, read astronaut biography and demonstrate another way to take notes.
Second Grade:
- Discuss African American biographies, give students a chance to share what they know.
- Read my book (tie it all together) as they compare and contrast their person to the one I read
- If time permits share info from graphic organizer
Third Grade:
- What good readers do (list and instruct)
- Read When Harriet met Sojourner book and practice for strategies to use before taking a test
Fourth Grade:
- Discuss how it is going with President Biographies
- use minis to go to POTUS
- Note-taking strategies/ second graphic organizer
Fifth Grade:
- Navajo Code Talkers + theme GO with web resources on minis
